How to pass SSC typing test using VectorTyping

Which SSC Exams Have a Typing Test

SSC CHSL (Tier 3)

SSC CGL (Skill Test)

The Two Numbers That Decide Pass or Fail

Speed

WPM = Total Words Typed ÷ Time in Minutes

For a 10-minute LDC test: you must type at least 350 words (35 × 10).

Accuracy

SSC does not publish a single official accuracy percentage the way UPPRPB does. The scoring is simpler: the examiner counts errors and deducts from total words typed. The effective speed drops.

For DEO posts: key depressions per hour (KPH). A 15-minute session at 8,000 KPH means you need at least 2,000 keystrokes in 15 minutes. Errors are counted as extra or wrong keystrokes.

Both numbers must clear together. 40 WPM with 25 wrong words is often a fail. 36 WPM clean is a pass.

Why Aspirants Fail at 38 WPM

Three reasons.

Wrong passages. WhatsApp, Twitter, random English websites — all conversational text. SSC passages are formal administrative prose. Longer sentences, less common vocabulary, unfamiliar rhythm. Speed drops 5–8 WPM on first exposure.

No stamina. A 10-minute SSC test is three times longer than a standard 3-minute WPM drill. Most people practise in 2–3 minute bursts. Accuracy degrades in the final 3 minutes of a 10-minute session if you have never trained past 5.

Finger collapse under pressure. Exam nerves cause a well-documented 10–15% speed drop. Someone practising at 36 WPM with no buffer types 30–31 WPM on exam day.

30-Day Practice Plan on VectorTyping

Week 4 - Mock Tests (Days 22–30)

No more drills. Only mock tests.

What to Track in VectorTyping

Key Depression Calculation for DEO Posts

For Data Entry Operator posts, convert between WPM and KPH:

KPH = WPM × 5 × 60 ÷ 15 (for a 15-minute test)

For 8,000 KPH: you need 2,000 keystrokes in 15 minutes, which is roughly 400 five-character words, or 26–27 WPM by standard count. Achievable for most aspirants with 2 weeks of practice.

For 15,000 KPH (MEA DEO): 3,750 keystrokes in 15 minutes, roughly 50 WPM. This requires dedicated high-speed training over 6–8 weeks.

Practice on SSC-Specific Passages
